Passport books and passport cards are the best credentials of proof of age as no teen is going to produce a counterfeit of either, but blowhards will still deny service once entrenched. It does not matter if you are over twenty-one years or older, if an establishment determines either a real fake or a false positive, they will deny service. Now if bars and establishments that sell alcohol would find a pattern of fake IDs, such as a particular state, then they can and will deny service to what they see fit. Makes it either harder to counterfeit or not at all. These new IDs are made with stricter quality control measures and they mail it to people, rather than printing them at the DMV. However, that is all going to change as the individual states begin to comply with the REAL ID Act of 2005. Some states have IDs that are easy to fake than others, such as Illinois.
